Parker's art is about destruction, resurrection and reconfiguration. Demonstrating the importance of process, she frequently transforms objects by using seemingly violent techniques such as shooting, exploding, squashing, cutting and burning. Through these actions she both physically alters the object and she herself becomes an active participant in the development of its story. I was drawn to her bullet drawing when i have first seen it at the Ingleby Gallery, Edinburgh. At times I have myself reflecting on my work, what was it questioning and what would be the next stage, conceiving possibilities that upon reserach, I found already present in Cornelia’s work. I abhor the idea of making ‘original’ art, whatever that is, but I find so insteresting when genuine artistic pracgice and thought cross paths. For this reason I find Hot Poker relevant to the collection and sharpens the inspiring beacon of art I was looking to forge.
