Kaori hails from Shizuoka Prefecture in Japan. She graduated from Aichi Prefectural University of Arts, Department of Fine Arts with a major in oil painting. I have met Kaori for the first time when I have done the Robert Callendar International Residency for Emerging Artists in 2012 between Osaka and Kyoto. Following this encounter I had the privilage to share a studio with her at Sea Loft as she was also a co-recipient of the award in Scotland. We have shown together in Summerhall as part of their Edinburgh Arts Festival Program 2013. This particular work for collection Simon Paul was acquired as part of an exchange of works between the artists after sharing in this experience. Kaori’s presence and support alongside Elizabeth Ogilvie at this time of my life is precious to me. Yet again I have seen heart in the artworld that supported me and given me hope amidst Simon’s cancer battle.
