What is it - to be curious |
How to go about when to explore |
When is it right to relinquish control and collaborate |
As artists we all have played with, unravelled, defragmented our materials. Yet, beyond graduation new pressures made this healthy inclination take a back seat.
Odekrom stems out of curious chat and a fascination to work with another, explore the value behind the unravelling of life.
Clare and Joseph started this chat informally in the early months of 2019. Both artists have been studying in Edinburgh for four years without ever meeting. Both graduating in 2010, they received the Malta Arts Scholarship awards to pursue their area of interest.
Towards the end of 2019, Clare approached Joseph with an interesting proposal to start a collaboration towards the anniversary of the Theresienstadt Ghetto. In return Joseph suggested to Clare to start exploring each other's vocabulary by making a work for a project initiated by Lateral Lab called Ways of Thinking.
Their first two collaborative pieces, both exploring the Stabat Mater by Luigi Boccherini are called, pictured at rest and stabat metric.
